In our experience the following number of hinges has been proven and tested.

Number of hinges per door as a general rule you will want to use 1 hinge per every 30 of door or fraction thereof.
Doors over 60 inches but not over 90 inches need to use 3 hinges.
For example a 90 door needs three hinges and a 91 door needs four.

For example if you have a 1 3 4 thick door that is 8 0 by 3 2 and made out of oak you would calculate the square inches of the door 96 x 38 3648.
It is important to consider the weight of the door including additional weights such as handles.
To calculate your door weight multiply the size of your door in square feet times the number in the chart above pounds per square feet.
Doors up to 60 inches need 2 hinges.
Directions after determining the weight and width of the door draw a straight line through the door width and weight to.
For high and narrow doors for example it may be wise to use three hinges for extra stability even though with a weight of 6 kg this is not strictly.
